The Marlow Murder Club Season 3: US Release Date, PBS Schedule, Cast, and Plot Spoilers

There is something wonderfully comforting about returning to Marlow.

The murders are getting stranger, the suspects are getting more ridiculous, and Judith Potts still seems to possess an almost supernatural ability to notice the one tiny detail everyone else has ignored. Somehow, The Marlow Murder Club Season 3 manages to make murder feel oddly inviting. Not harmless, obviously. People are still dying. But this is the kind of mystery where I want to make a cup of tea, settle into the sofa, and start guessing the killer before Judith does.

Created by Robert Thorogood, the mind behind Death in Paradise, the series has carved out a very particular place for itself among modern British mysteries. It is funny without turning the murders into a joke, dramatic without becoming relentlessly miserable, and, most importantly, it understands that the characters matter just as much as the crimes.

Season 3 arrives in the US on September 6, 2026, and from everything this new batch of episodes promises, Marlow is about to become considerably more dangerous.

And I am absolutely here for it.

The Marlow Murder Club Season 3 US Release Date

American viewers can catch the Season 3 premiere on Sunday, September 6, 2026, as part of PBS Masterpiece Mystery!.

The episode airs at 8:00 PM Eastern / 7:00 PM Central, continuing the show’s established Sunday-night slot. Episodes will also be available through the PBS App and the official PBS website around the broadcast window, giving viewers a straightforward way to watch even if traditional television isn’t part of their routine anymore.

For PBS members, previous seasons remain available through PBS Passport, while fans who prefer Amazon’s ecosystem can also find the series through the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel.

Honestly, Sunday night feels like the perfect home for this show. The Marlow Murder Club isn’t something I want to rush through at two in the morning. It is comfort television. You want the rain outside, something warm to drink, and enough time to pause every ten minutes and announce, “It was obviously him.”

Usually, I’m wrong.

Season 3 US Schedule

The six episodes are divided into three two-part mysteries, which is a format I particularly like for this series. It gives the writers room to introduce more suspects, plant better clues, and let the characters breathe instead of wrapping everything up in 50 minutes.

The Queen of Poisons Opens the Season With a Locked-Room Nightmare

The first mystery is probably the one that immediately grabbed my attention.

During a town council meeting, Marlow’s mayor suddenly collapses and dies. At first, it looks like an awful medical emergency. Then the evidence points toward poison.

Now everyone inside that council chamber has a problem.

The murder happened in a confined environment surrounded by politicians, officials, and other prominent members of the community. Nobody can simply walk away from suspicion. The more Judith, Becks, and Suzie investigate, the more they uncover a mess involving political grudges, financial secrets and blackmail.

It is exactly the sort of setup that The Marlow Murder Club does well: respectable people sitting in respectable rooms while quietly hiding absolutely terrible things.

The storyline draws from Robert Thorogood’s 2024 novel The Queen of Poisons, with Thorogood also involved in adapting the story for television. That should be reassuring for fans who worry about adaptations losing the personality of their source material.

There is also a particularly fun casting addition here, with Peter Davison appearing as a guest star. For British television fans, seeing Davison turn up in a mystery like this is almost enough reason to tune in by itself.

And yes, I already don’t trust anybody in that council chamber.

Murder in the Dark Gets Much More Personal

The middle story, Murder in the Dark, appears to push the series into slightly darker territory.

A university reunion takes place at an isolated manor house, which is basically a giant flashing sign saying something horrible is about to happen. The gathering begins as an attempt to reconnect with old friends and former classmates. Naturally, that doesn’t last.

A murder changes everything.

What makes this case especially interesting is its connection to Becks’ past. Suddenly, this isn’t just another strange death for the Marlow trio to investigate. Becks herself becomes entangled in the case, and the police begin looking at her as a potential suspect.

That creates one of the biggest emotional conflicts of the season.

Newly promoted DI Tanika Malik is forced to suspend Becks from her civilian advisor duties, even taking back her official lanyard. Judith and Suzie then have to do something they are very good at: ignore the obvious advice to stay out of trouble and start investigating anyway.

I actually love this direction for the characters.

Becks has always brought a slightly different energy to the trio. Judith is confident, analytical and seemingly impossible to intimidate. Suzie is practical and observant. Becks often feels more vulnerable, which makes it particularly satisfying when she shows just how brave she can be.

Putting her directly under suspicion gives the story something the first case doesn’t have: real personal danger.

An Appetite for Murder Takes the Club Into the Culinary World

The final mystery, An Appetite for Murder, moves away from council politics and university secrets and into the glamorous, vicious world of high-end food.

A famous chef is murdered during a public launch event for his latest cookbook. There are plenty of potential suspects, from kitchen staff to industry rivals, but the case initially seems almost impossible to crack because everyone appears to have a convincing alibi.

That’s when Judith starts noticing the inconsistencies.

And this is where I expect the show to have a lot of fun.

The culinary world is perfect territory for a cozy mystery because beneath all the beautiful food and expensive presentation, there are plenty of opportunities for jealousy, stolen ideas, professional grudges and financial desperation.

The investigation eventually uncovers stolen recipes, professional rivalries and money problems, while a major new clue forces the police to reconsider their original theory.

For a season finale, it sounds deliciously messy.

Judith, Suzie and Becks Still Make the Show Work

The murder cases are fun, but let’s be honest: we’re watching because of the trio.

Samantha Bond returns as Judith Potts, and I cannot imagine anyone else playing her. Judith has that wonderful combination of intelligence and eccentricity that could easily become annoying in another show. Here, it works.

She is a retired archaeologist, a crossword enthusiast, an amateur detective and, yes, someone who apparently has no problem skinny-dipping in the Thames.

Season 3 gives her a problem that no murder investigation can easily solve: dating.

Judith attracts the attention of two different men. One is a wealthy figure from her past who has become rather obnoxious with age and money. The other appears to be a much more sincere romantic possibility.

Watching Judith try to navigate romance may be even more entertaining than watching her interrogate suspects.

Then there’s Suzie Harris, played by Jo Martin. Suzie decides that it might be time to enter the dating world herself and begins attending speed-dating events.

Naturally, she cannot simply go on a normal date.

Her detective instincts keep getting in the way, and things become even more awkward when she discovers that someone the trio knows is secretly attending the same event.

This is exactly the kind of smaller character comedy I want between the murders. The show works best when it remembers that these women have lives outside of crime scenes.

Becks Gets a Mother-in-Law From Hell

Becks’ personal storyline sounds like the season’s comedy grenade.

Her wealthy and deeply judgmental mother-in-law arrives in Marlow for an extended stay, bringing with her a seemingly endless supply of criticism. Becks’ choices, her home life and even her involvement in solving murders become targets for disapproval.

Judith and Suzie, being excellent friends and terrible influences when necessary, decide to help.

Their solution involves increasingly elaborate attempts to get the woman out of Becks’ house and, ideally, out of Marlow altogether.

I suspect these scenes will provide some of the biggest laughs of the season.

It is also another reason the series stands apart from darker British crime dramas. The Marlow Murder Club understands that a murder investigation can coexist with something as mundane and ridiculous as an unbearable relative staying in your spare bedroom.

The Season 3 Cast

The central cast returns, giving the new season the familiar chemistry that makes the series so easy to watch.

Natalie Dew’s Tanika is particularly interesting this season because her promotion changes the balance between the police and the amateur detectives. Judith, Becks and Suzie are no longer simply meddling locals who happen to solve murders. Their relationship with the police is becoming more formal, and that inevitably creates boundaries.

Or, at least, boundaries that Judith will immediately attempt to ignore.

Why Season 3 Could Be the Show’s Best Yet

There are dozens of crime dramas on television right now. Many of them seem determined to make every murder as bleak and traumatic as possible.

The Marlow Murder Club takes another route.

It gives us corpses, suspects and complicated motives, but it also gives us friendship, humor, romance and an actual sense of community.

That’s why the show works.

Marlow is beautiful, but it never feels completely safe. Everyone seems to know everyone, yet everyone also appears to have something they’d rather keep private. That contrast is the secret sauce of the series.

I also like that Season 3 appears willing to expand the world without abandoning the formula. We get political intrigue in The Queen of Poisons, personal stakes in Murder in the Dark, and culinary rivalries in An Appetite for Murder. The mysteries feel different, but the characters remain our anchor.

And that matters.

A cozy mystery lives or dies by whether you actually want to spend time with its detectives. Thankfully, Judith, Suzie and Becks are the kind of characters I would happily follow into another six murders.

My Take: Bring on September 6

If you’ve been missing clever British mysteries that don’t require three episodes of emotional devastation before anyone cracks a smile, The Marlow Murder Club Season 3 looks like exactly the right prescription.

The September 6 US premiere gives PBS viewers three new mysteries, six episodes and plenty of opportunities to accuse innocent fictional people of murder.

The first case has the strongest classic-whodunnit setup. The second looks like the emotional centerpiece because of Becks’ involvement. And the culinary finale could be the most entertaining of the bunch.

But personally, I’m just happy to be going back to Marlow.

Give me Judith’s crosswords, Suzie’s increasingly chaotic investigations, Becks trying to survive her family, Tanika attempting to keep everyone under control, and a suspiciously polite group of British people hiding secrets from each other.

That is my kind of Sunday night.
