There is something wonderfully dangerous about The Gentlemen. One minute you’re watching an impeccably dressed British aristocrat worry about his family’s estate, and the next you’re knee-deep in a criminal empire involving marijuana, rival gangsters, bizarre millionaires, and people who seem to solve every disagreement with a gun.

That is exactly why the question surrounding The Gentlemen Season 3 refuses to disappear: is Guy Ritchie actually planning to continue the story?

With Season 2 scheduled to premiere on September 3, 2026, fans are already looking beyond the next batch of episodes. Reddit threads, YouTube theories, fan discussions and entertainment sites are all asking the same thing. Will Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass get another chapter, or will Netflix decide that their story ends with Season 2?

Right now, the honest answer is frustratingly simple: Season 3 has not been officially confirmed by Netflix. Guy Ritchie has also not publicly announced that a third season is moving forward.

But personally, I would be very surprised if this universe disappeared after Season 2.

Why The Gentlemen Feels Bigger Than a Two-Season Show

When Netflix announced a television adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 movie, I wasn’t convinced it would work.

The original film already had its own identity, rhythm and ridiculously stacked cast. Turning that world into a series could easily have felt like an extended sequel that didn’t know why it existed.

Instead, the series found its own personality.

Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, enters the criminal world almost by accident after inheriting his father’s estate and discovering that the family property is hiding a highly profitable cannabis operation. What starts as an attempt to protect his family quickly turns into something much more complicated.

And then there’s Susie Glass.

Kaya Scodelario’s performance is one of the biggest reasons the show works. Susie isn’t simply Eddie’s criminal partner or romantic possibility. She’s ambitious, calculating and perfectly capable of playing the long game. Their relationship has enough tension to keep fans debating what exactly they are to each other.

That chemistry is a huge part of the show’s appeal.

The first season also proved that the The Gentlemen concept could function beyond the original movie. According to Nielsen data cited around the show’s initial success, the series generated more than 1.21 billion viewing minutes in the United States during its first four days.

Those are not numbers Netflix can casually ignore.

Season 2 Changes the Game

The biggest reason I think Season 3 makes sense is the direction of Season 2 itself.

The first season was largely about Eddie discovering the hidden machinery beneath his aristocratic inheritance. He wasn’t looking to become a gangster. He was trying to survive.

By the time the story moves forward, Eddie has changed.

He understands the business.

More importantly, he understands himself.

Season 2 reportedly expands the story beyond the English countryside and into a much larger criminal landscape, including locations around Italy and Lake Maggiore. That immediately changes the scale of the series.

We’re no longer talking about one estate with a secret business operating underneath it.

We’re talking about an empire.

And once a character starts building an empire in a Guy Ritchie story, you can pretty much guarantee somebody is going to try to steal it.

So, Is The Gentlemen Season 3 Officially Happening?

Not yet.

As of August 2026, Netflix has not officially announced a Season 3 renewal.

There has also been no formal confirmation from Guy Ritchie that scripts for a third season are currently being written.

That’s the distinction fans should keep in mind because online rumors have a habit of turning speculation into ‘news’ overnight.

A Reddit comment saying that production is supposedly planned for 2027 isn’t the same thing as a Netflix announcement. A YouTube thumbnail claiming ‘SEASON 3 CONFIRMED’ doesn’t suddenly make it official either.

Netflix will almost certainly want to see how Season 2 performs before committing to another expensive international production.

And honestly, that’s completely normal.

The first season’s success gives the show a strong advantage, but streaming decisions are still driven by viewership, completion rates, international performance and overall audience engagement.

The Situation Right Now

For me, the most important phrase here is ‘not officially confirmed’, rather than ‘cancelled.’

Those are two completely different things.

Why I Think Netflix Has Every Reason to Renew It

Netflix loves recognizable concepts, and The Gentlemen has something even more valuable: a world that can keep producing stories.

The show doesn’t depend entirely on one mystery being solved. It has a flexible criminal ecosystem.

Eddie can become more powerful.

Susie can become more dangerous.

New gangs can appear.

Old alliances can collapse.

The aristocratic families can get pulled deeper into the underworld.

And, perhaps most importantly, the show can keep introducing those wonderfully strange Guy Ritchie characters who walk into a room and immediately make you wonder what on earth is going to happen next.

That’s an extremely useful formula for a streaming series.

Reddit Fans Already Have Season 3 Figured Out

Naturally, fans aren’t waiting for Netflix.

Online discussions have already produced plenty of theories about what could happen next.

One popular idea is that Season 3 could explore the consequences of Eddie and Susie’s international expansion. Moving into another territory means dealing with criminal organizations that don’t care about British titles, family names or inherited estates.

Eddie’s biggest advantage has always been that he can operate comfortably in both worlds.

He’s aristocratic enough to understand the upper class, but increasingly ruthless enough to survive among criminals.

That dual identity could eventually become his greatest weakness.

Some fans also want more of Freddy Horniman, played by Daniel Ings. And I completely understand that.

Freddy is essentially a walking disaster with excellent comedic timing. Every time he gets involved, the situation somehow becomes both more ridiculous and more dangerous.

I would happily watch an entire subplot about Freddy attempting to prove that he’s useful while accidentally creating an international incident.

The Bobby Glass Question

There’s another storyline that could become very important.

The relationship between Bobby Glass and Stanley Johnston creates another potential source of conflict. If that alliance develops further, Eddie and Susie could find themselves dealing with a threat that isn’t simply another rival gang.

It could become a coordinated challenge to their entire operation.

That’s where a potential third season becomes particularly exciting.

Season 1 showed us Eddie entering the criminal world.

Season 2 appears to push him deeper into the business.

Season 3 could be about what happens when the empire he’s built becomes too large to control.

That’s a much darker premise, and honestly, it feels perfect for Guy Ritchie.

What Could The Gentlemen Season 3 Be About?

If Netflix renews the show, I wouldn’t expect another simple repeat of Season 1.

The characters have already evolved too much.

My guess would be that Season 3 explores three major conflicts:

• Eddie vs. the consequences of power: He may have started out wanting to save his family, but eventually he has to ask whether he’s become the very thing he wanted to escape.
• Susie’s ambitions: Susie has never struck me as someone who plans to remain a supporting player forever. Her relationship with Eddie could become increasingly complicated as their ambitions collide.
• The international criminal network: Once their business expands outside Britain, the rules change. Bigger organizations mean bigger enemies, and Eddie may discover that being a local kingpin is very different from playing on a global board.

And yes, I’d absolutely expect Guy Ritchie to throw some completely unhinged wildcard into the middle of all three.

That’s half the fun.

Could Eddie and Susie Become a Couple?

This is probably one of the biggest fan debates heading into Season 3.

Their chemistry is obvious, but their relationship has never been straightforward. They understand each other because they’re both ambitious, intelligent and willing to manipulate situations when necessary.

That’s also exactly why a romance between them could be dangerous.

If they become a couple, would they actually trust one another?

Would Susie sacrifice her ambitions for Eddie?

Would Eddie choose Susie over his family?

Or would their relationship become another business arrangement that eventually explodes?

Personally, I don’t want the show to rush this.

The uncertainty is much more interesting.

When Could The Gentlemen Season 3 Release?

This is where fans should probably prepare themselves for a long wait.

Even if Netflix announces Season 3 shortly after Season 2, production wouldn’t begin immediately. Scripts need to be developed, cast schedules need to be coordinated, locations need to be secured and the international scale of the story adds another layer of complexity.

If renewal happens toward the end of 2026, a realistic production timeline could push the third season into 2028.

A 2027 release would feel extremely optimistic to me.

And while waiting two years for another season isn’t exactly pleasant, I’d rather have Netflix give the writers enough time to build something worthwhile than rush the series simply because the audience is impatient.

Especially with Guy Ritchie involved.

My Biggest Fear for Season 3

There’s one thing I’d be worried about if the show continues.

Bigger doesn’t automatically mean better.

The first season worked because it had a very specific identity: British aristocracy, family dysfunction, organized crime and Guy Ritchie’s rapid-fire style all crashing into each other.

If Season 3 becomes nothing more than a generic international gangster thriller, it could lose the weird British charm that made the series special.

I want the absurdity.

I want the awkward aristocrats.

I want Eddie trying to behave like a respectable Duke while simultaneously running a criminal enterprise.

I want Susie entering a room and making everyone else look completely outmatched.

And, yes, I want Freddy making terrible decisions.

If the show keeps that personality while expanding the story, I’m absolutely on board.

The Verdict: Don’t Write Off Season 3 Yet

At this point, The Gentlemen Season 3 is unconfirmed, not cancelled.

That distinction matters.

Netflix still needs to see how Season 2 performs after its September 3, 2026 premiere, and Guy Ritchie’s schedule is notoriously crowded. But the ingredients for another season are clearly there: a popular cast, a flexible criminal universe, strong audience interest and plenty of unresolved character dynamics.

For me, the real question isn’t whether the story can continue.

It obviously can.

The more interesting question is whether Netflix and Guy Ritchie can find an even crazier way to escalate it without losing what made the first season so addictive.

If they manage that, I’ll happily wait until 2028.

Because let’s be honest: I’d rather spend two years waiting for Eddie Horniman to make another terrible decision than watch the story end just when things are getting interesting.
