There was a point before Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived when I was almost convinced Marvel was playing with us. Every trailer seemed to contain another little clue. The Hand was involved. New York looked dirtier and more dangerous than it had in the previous Spider-Man movies. There were prison sequences, mysterious vigilantes, and enough…
Let’s be honest: Brad Pitt is usually the guy who gets all the attention when a new movie drops. Put him in a survival thriller, throw in some brutal Alaskan wilderness, a plane crash, and a former Special Forces soldier, and you would expect the entire conversation to revolve around Pitt. And yet, here comes…
There are certain questions you ask before watching a movie because you’re curious. Then there are questions you ask because you genuinely need to know whether your evening is about to be emotionally destroyed. “Does the dog die in Heart of the Beast?” is very firmly in the second category. Ever since the trailers for…
There is a strange thing about Spider-Man: Brand New Day. On the surface, Marvel Studios finally appears to be giving Tom Holland’s Peter Parker exactly what many fans have been asking for: a smaller story, a battered New York, fewer multiverse fireworks, and a Spider-Man who actually has to survive without Tony Stark’s technology or…
There was a point before Spider-Man: Brand New Day came out when I was almost convinced Marvel had already spoiled the movie for us. Everywhere I looked, there were black-suit theories. Set photos. Trailer breakdowns. Tom Holland showing up in suspiciously dark outfits. Zendaya doing the same. Shots of Peter crawling out of what looked…
There are a lot of ways Marvel could have followed up Spider-Man: No Way Home. A huge multiverse adventure would have been the obvious choice. More returning villains, more alternate Spider-Men, another round of reality-breaking chaos — fans probably would have shown up for it. Instead, Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes Peter Parker somewhere much…
Spider-Man: Brand New Day does something surprisingly cruel with Peter Parker. It gives him a chance to reconnect with the two people who mattered most to him, then reminds him that getting someone back isn’t the same thing as getting your old life back. That distinction is basically the emotional heart of the movie. Set…
Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes a surprisingly strange route before its final minutes completely pull the rug out from under the audience. For most of the movie, Peter Parker is dealing with something much smaller and, frankly, much more interesting than another universe-threatening catastrophe: loneliness. After the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter has…
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from spending way too much time reading horror forums after a trailer drops, it’s that fans never stop hoping a favorite character somehow cheated death. The moment Lionsgate released footage from Fall 2: Deadpoint, one question exploded everywhere: Is Hunter back? I get it. Hunter wasn’t just one half…
The first Fall caught a lot of people off guard, myself included. I expected another disposable survival movie built around a simple gimmick. Instead, it became one of those rare thrillers that spread across social media because everyone wanted to watch someone else experience the same anxiety they had. Two women trapped on top of…
The ending of Spider-Man: Brand New Day left me with mixed emotions, and honestly, I think that’s exactly why it’s already one of the most talked-about Marvel movies in years. It doesn’t rely on a giant cliffhanger or another multiverse cameo to make people argue online. Instead, it asks one painful question that feels even…
After walking out of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, I kept thinking about one scene more than any explosive fight or flashy visual effect. Not Jean Grey’s psychic meltdown. Not the rooftop sacrifice. Not even the mysterious post-credits tease floating somewhere beyond Earth. It was a simple handshake. Marvel has spent years convincing us that bigger…
